How is the raw cashmere processed?

1. The moulted goats’ hair needs to be sorted by hand for grades and colours (grey, white and brown). This requires considerable expertise.

2. The cashmere fibre is then “willowed” in a simple revolving machine to remove dust and grit.

3. The fibres then need to be scoured and de-haired. De-hairing is the most important step in processing the raw cashmere as this will have a major impact on the quality and the price of the cashmere fibre.
