What makes cashmere expensive?

What makes cashmere expensive?

A single cashmere goat does not produce a lot usable cashmere fibre – only about 4 ounces (110 grams).

It takes cashmere fibre from 4-5 cashmere goats to make one cashmere sweater.

In comparison to wool, one sheep can produce enough fibre to make 4 wool jumpers.

Cashmere still only makes up 0.5% of the world's total wool production, so there’s not a lot.
